Los Angeles Pitcher Killed in Car Accident After Starring in Ball Game

(ChattahBox) — Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed early this morning in a horrific automobile accident, hours after he pitched in a game last night.

Adenhart, 22, trying to establish himself in the big leagues pitched a great game against the Oakland A’s last night in a losing effort – scattering seven hits and three walks while striking out five in six scoreless innings for LA.

Police say the three-vehicle accident was caused by a motorist in a mini-van who ran a red light.Two of the three occupants (including Nick) in the Mitsubishi were declared dead at the scene and a third died just after 6 a.m. on Thursday.

A fourth occupant is at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange in critical condition.

TMZ reports one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with Angels organization.

Cops say the driver who fled the scene was later caught and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Update: Courtney Stewart, 20, the driver of the Mitsubishi Eclipse in the fatal crash which killed Nick Adenhart has also passed away. Andrew Gallo, who was driving the van that caused the accident is suspected of driving under the influence while on a suspended license because of a prior DUI. If he was drinking and since he fled the scene, he could be booked on murder charges, along with vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and felony DUI. Via: TMZ
