Rush Limbaugh bids for NFL St Louis Rams franchise
October 6, 2009
(ChattahBox) –Look for the lowly St Louis Rams to start running their sweeps to the right. Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh announced Tuesday he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams. In a statement released today, Limbaugh said he and Checketts “have made a bid to buy the Rams and are continuing the process.” Currently former owner Georgia Frontiere’s children own a 60% stake in the team, and billionaire Stan Kroenke owns a 40% stake. The Rams went 2-14 in 2008 and have lost their last 14 games. Last month, Forbes magazine valued the Rams at $913 million, ranking them 25th out of 32 NFL teams. Limbaugh’s last foray into the world of pro football didn’t work out so well, as a matter of fact he lasted about a month before he resigned in a hail of controversy. As an NFL commentator for ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown,” in 2003, he spouted out that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback do well in the NFL.
