NFL Player Gaines Adams dead at 26
January 17, 2010
(ChattahBox) – A young NFL player, Chicago Bears defensive lineman Gaines Adams, has passed way before his time. He died Sunday at age 26, Self Regional Hospital after going into cardiac arrest about an hour before at his family’s home in Greenwood, said Marcia Kelley-Clark, chief deputy coroner for Greenwood County. The preliminary autopsy report indicated that Adams had an enlarged heart and died of cardiac arrest.
A celebrated All-American defensive end at Clemson, Gaines career in the NFL with Chicago and previously Tampa Bay hadn’t meet with the high expectations of his draft status as a fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft yet. But while Gaines NFL career hadn’t flourished yet, he was a success in life. The Greenville, South Carolina native was a father and a great family man, and his former teammates on the Bucs remember Gaines as a soft-spoken, good-hearted kid who did his best and wanted to succeed. Our condolences to Gaines’ family.
