China Stripped Of 2000 Olympic Medal

April 28, 2010

China (ChattahBox) – China has been stripped of a 2000 bronze medal from the Sydney games after it was found that the gymnasts sent on behalf of the country were underage.

The International Olympic Committee found that Dong Fangxiao was only 14 at the time of the games, and so two years from being an eligible gymnast for the country.

According to the investigation, Dong was born in 1986, but her birth date was forged in the FIG database to say she was born in 1983, and so old enough to compete.

Now the medals have been taken from the Chinese gymnastic team, and will be given to the US team, which came in fourth place.
