Brett Favre supposedly set to retire again

August 3, 2010

(ChattahBox) — We have all heard this one before, but Brett Favre has reportedly told the Minnesota Vikings he won’t return for a second season, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.  Word is that after hemming and hawing again about whether he was healthy enough to come back for his 20th season, he decided his injured left ankle is not responding as well to surgery and rehabilitation as he had hoped.  Favre, who turns 41 on October 10, had surgery on his left ankle in May, and was recently visited by Vikings head coach Brad Childress just a few weeks ago to apparently see if he would return.  For his part coach Childress denied Tuesday morning that Favre has informed him he planned to retire. I initially thought Favre made a bad decision, when he decided to play for the Vikings last year after recovering from shoulder surgery, but he had a great season before falling to the New Orleans Saints in overtime, 31-28, in the NFC Championship game. This still could be a ploy to avoid the two a day early training camp grind?
