Apple Talks With Music Labels About Options For 3G iPhone
May 20, 2008
Boston (ChattahBox) - Apple is currently in talks with major music labels to allow consumers to purchase music over the 3G network straight to their new next-gen iPhone.
The way the current iPhone works is that it allows users to purchase music from iTunes right from the phone, but users must be connected to a high-speed WiFi connection.
With this new format, users would be able to purchase music right over the fast 3G wireless network from AT&T, allowing to take full advantage of the capabilities of the 3G iPhone.
The report comes from the New York Times, which stated that the last big hurdle has to do with pricing and how profits would be split between the labels and Apple.
Apple is hopeful to make this a reality before they unveil and launch the 3G iPhone in June.
