Mozilla Claims Firefox 3 Downloads Top 8 Million
June 19, 2008
Boston (ChattahBox) - Mozilla has come out and stated that the downloads for their open-source web browser, Firefox 3, have topped 8 million.
In just 24 hours being available, the Firefox 3 browser has been downloaded 8 million times.
In just 5 hours, it managed to surpass the 1.5 million downloads mark.
The open-source browser was being received by users at 9,000 downloads per minute at its peak.
The 8 million downloads could have been even higher if Mozilla did not experience server crashes.
Reports state the Guinness Book of World Records is reviewing the downloads to see if it is indeed a record.
This 8 million figure beat expectations of 5 million set by Mozilla.
