According to the analyst house Gartner, the total number of PCs in use in the world is now above 1 billion, with it expected it hit 2 billion by 2014.New York (ChattahBox) – According to the analyst house Gartner, the total number of PCs in use in the world is now above 1 billion, with it expected it hit 2 billion by 2014.

Gartner stated that the U.S., Europe, and Japan account for 58% of the first 1 billion PCs in the world.

This is remarkable as these three locations only make up 15% of the world’s population.

At the current growth rate of 12% per year, they are expected to have 2 billion PCs in use by 2014.

Gartner also stated that 16% of the existing installed PC base, or 180 million PCs will be replaced this year.
