Microsoft Officially Stops Selling Windows XP Operating System
June 30, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - As of today, Microsoft has officially stopped selling the Windows XP operating system to computer makers and retailers.
This move by Microsoft has been protested by fans of Windows XP for quite some time now, as many have been fighting to keep XP around rather than upgrading to Windows Vista.
Computer makers and retailers will be able to continue to sell Windows XP until their stock runs out.
Once that happens though, XP will only be available on low-cost PCs, as well as through downgrade options with certain companies.
Microsoft has promised to keep support alive for Windows XP through 2014.
