Rhapsody Embraces The iPod, Challenges iTunes
June 30, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - Rhapsody, the online music provider, has expanded quite a bit, embracing the Apple iPod with DRM-free music, while challenging the Apple iTunes store.
The Apple iTunes music store has managed to fend off all types of competitors as it has been able to become the #1 music retailer in the U.S. over the past months, beating out even the retail giant, Wal-Mart.
Rhapsody is hoping to try and take down the giant though with a new plan to embrace the iPod.
Neil Smith, vice president of Rhapsody stated “We’re no longer competing with the iPod. We’re embracing it.”
Rhapsody will no longer compete with the iPod, but will embrace all devices with DRM-free music.
They have launched an entirely new selection of songs to kick off the expansion.
