The new model of the PS3 will come packaged with a built-in 80GB hard drive, and will be priced at $399 instead of the standard $499 for the 80GB PS3.

The new model will become the mainstream unit for the PS3, and will replace the current 40GB model which is at that pric epoint.

The new model will include integrated Wi-Fi, as well as a built-in Blu-ray player.

Just as with the 40GB model, it will not feature backwards compatability with PS2 games.

Sony will launch the new unit in September, and phase out the 40GB model.

It is not a price drop, Sony added 40gb’s more to the current 40gb ps3 making it 80gb for the exact same price of $399. Current 80gb at $499 has backwards compatibility, flash card readers and 4 usb ports and is being phased out not priced dropped. The 40gb upgraded to 80gb does not have these features, hence the same price of, you guessed it $399. When the current 80gb gets dropped from $499 to $399 and still has bw comp, flash and 4 ports thats a price drop. Just thought I would help you out since you do seem to have Google on your computer.
