Nintendo reported that after just 20 months of release, the Nintendo Wii is the new console leader in the U.S. Despite the full year lead for the Xbox 360, the Wii now stands alone.

The Wii has sold nearly 10.9 million units to date, putting it above the total units of the Xbox 360.

NPD sales data proved this as well, as Nintendo sold 666,700 Wii units in June, compared to just 219,800 for Xbox 360.

The PS3 sold 405,500 units in June, and was helped with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
