Facebook’s Zuckerberg made the announcement at an annual developer conference held in San Francisco.

The plan in regards to Facebook apps is to allow for developers to have Facebook verify applications. Once the verification is done, they will have more access to Facebook tools, allowing for more of the social networking site to be integrated.

In turn, this would result in the apps being of higher quality for Facebook users.

Zuckerberg also announced a new service called Facebook Connect, allowing users to use their login names and passwords on other sites such as Digg.

Overall, this looks to be a push by Facebook to become far more open to the rest of the internet.
