Microsoft chief financial officer Chris Liddell told investors on Thursday that a deal with Yahoo is pretty much not going to happen.

He stated that the chances of them actually being able to go through with the takeover of Yahoo were “negligible.”

Microsoft has stated that the fact the deal was not done, is that the two sides were not able to agree on a true value for Yahoo.

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer said later, “It didn’t work out, fine, we’re done, we can move on.”

Ballmer did leave the door open though, stating talks could start again later on down the road.
