The news comes from the Official Google Blog, which states that they are now tracking 1 trillion unique URLs at once on the web.

They wrote on the blog, “”Over the last eight years, we’ve seen a lot of big numbers about how much content is really out there. Recently, even our search engineers stopped in awe about just how big the web is these days – – when our systems that process links on the web to find new content hit a milestone: 1 trillion (as in 1,000,000,000,000) unique URLs on the web at once!,”
This is not even the size of the whole web, as Google is not counting duplicates or anything of that nature.

The overall goal for Google, as explained, is to track “all of the world’s data.”

The first Google index took place 1998, with 26 million pages. In 2000, they hit 1 billion.

Where they will be a few years from now, well the sky appears to be the limit.
