Portugal Agrees To Buy 500,000 Classmate PCs From Intel

Washington (ChattahBox) - Portugal and Intel have reached an agreement which will have the company purchasing 500,000 Classmate PCs.
This is the biggest deal to date for Intel’s low-cost laptops.
Intel is working to compete with theOne Laptop Per Child (OLPC) company, and appears to be succeeding.
Portugal has called the deal the Magellan Initiative, as they will be giving the Classmate PCs to elementary school children in the country.
Intel Chairman Craig Barrett, and the Prime Minister of Portugal, Jose Socrates made the deal public on Wednesday.
