Cable provider Cablevision has managed to win a major appeal, allowing them to move forward with their plan for network DVR.Washington (Chattahbox) – Cable provider Cablevision has managed to win a major appeal, allowing them to move forward with their plan for network DVR.

Entertainment studios have been trying to get Cablevision blocked from launching their DVR service, known as Remote Storage Digital Video Recorder.

The new service will have users recording programs to a network server, and having access to them over their set-top box.

This would eliminate the need to actually have a set-top-box with DVR capabilities.

The U.S. Court of Apeals of the Second Circuit in New York overturned a decision reached in March 2007 by a lower court.
