Microsoft Brings New Features With SQL Server 2008 Release

Microsoft has announced the official release of SQL Server 2008, as they have begun shipping it to manufacturers....Boston (ChattahBox) – Microsoft has announced the official release of SQL Server 2008, as they have begun shipping it to manufacturers.

Going beyond that, they are also making a trial version available for their Microsoft Development Network.

The expected general release across the board will likely take place in September, as they have already releases SQL Server 2008 Express and SQL Server 2008 Compact 3.5.

There will be seven different versions available, touting new features such as Police-Based Management, as well as Performance Data Collector, and Resoure Governor.

The seven SQL Server 2008 editions which will be made available include…

-SQL Server 2008 Enterprise
-SQL Server 2008 Standard
-SQL Server 2008 Workgroup
-SQL Server 2008 Web
-SQL Server 2008 Developer
-SQL Server 2008 Express
-SQL Server 2008 Compact 3.5
