Intel Names High-End Nehalem Chips Core i7
August 11, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - Intel has confirmed that the names for their first high-end Nehalem processors will be called Core i7, and will ship out later this year.
Intel is working to manufacture the new Core i7 chips, using a 45-nanometer manufacturing process.
This new family of processors is expected to be far more energy-efficient, and far faster than previous offerings.
Intel is including an integrated memory controller, and is expected to launch the Core i7 chips by the end of this year.
The other versions of the Nehalem chips will get different names, as the low-end versions will be created for low-end desktops, as well as laptops.
