LG To Offer TV’s With Integrated NetFlix

January 5, 2009

Korea (ChattahBox) – Electronics superpower LG has announced plans to officially launch a new, built-in Netflix program into their new HD and plasma screen televisions, in a further step at combining computer and television technology.

The measure, similar to the one that Amazon has been attempting to deal with Sony, will allow Netflix users to access over 12,000 free movies and television shows on their TV’s, removing the middle man that still requires DVD’s to be shipped to the home.

Between the size of the current Netflix library, and the convenience of not needing a cable box, these new televisions could put companies such as Comcast into the past, which only offer a small amount of free content at any given time, and tend to grossly overcharge for paid content.

These new televisions are set to be made beginning this Spring.
