DVD And Blu-Ray Still Dominate The Media Scene

February 6, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – Despite claims that video on demand services are taking over the media world, a new study suggests that DVD and Blu-ray will still be the forerunners in video technology, with VOD lagging behind at least seven years.

According to SNL Kagan, a media research group, DVD is still the overwhelming leader in consumer products, with a 97.1 per cent share, with Blu-ray the next in line, and ti does not look at though Video on Demand will be catching up any time soon.

“Blu-ray will be the driving force behind the video retail market throughout the next decade, SNL Kagen analyst Wade Holden said.
“The current economic climate, however, will slow the growth of this new format and likely keep it from reaching the heights that it may have in better times.”
