Cisco Announces Launch of New Blade Server: Code-Named, “Project California”

(ChattahBox)–Cisco CEO, John Chambers will today, be announcing the launch of its new blade server, called “Project California.” This foray by Cisco into the computer market is a clear signal that it fully intends to compete with its former partner, Hewlett-Packard. Cisco, the California based, networking company, sees its new blade servers as a continuing progression of its new virtualization strategy business model. Cisco Chief Technology Officer Padmasree Warrior sees the new blade server as a revolutionary way to manage virtual machines and applications, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article.

Industry analysts have been watching these two technology giants since ending their partnership a short time ago, waiting for signs of animosity between the two CEOs. Hewlett-Packard’s recent entry into the ProCurve-networking arena is said to have angered Cisco. Let’s see how HP reacts to Cisco’s announcement today that it intends to enter into HP’s territory and compete with no holds barred.
