The robots, which will be covered in camouflage, was designed to mimic the movements of real snakes, in order to more easily send it through terrain where the creatures are common, for the purpose of spying.

The size and flexibility will allow the snake to move more easily around corners and through cracks, and will be controlled remotely by a laptop computer, making it a suitable piece of equipment for various military operations.

There are also rumors that the snake will be used as a transportation device, able to carry explosives, and so offering another method to keep soldiers safe during combat, when riskier strikes are necessary.
