Ralsky Stock Spammers Facing Long Jail Terms, Millions in Fines

June 24, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Notorious International King of Spam, Alan Ralsky just pleaded guilty to a massive operation of CAN-SPAM offenses, including wire and mail fraud and money laundering. Ralsky faces up to seven years in jail and a fine of $1 million dollars.

Throughout 2004 and most of 2005, Ralsky and his spam gang earned about $3 million from a scam to defraud the email recipients and generate interest in worthless Chinese penny stocks.

Ralsky and his spamming crew then earned huge profits when the stocks were traded, while the targets of their email spam purchased the stocks at inflated prices.

Ralsky used various methods to get around spam blockers, such as falsified headers, falsely registered domain names and the use of proxy computers.

Ralsky’s, son-in-law Scott Bradley, faces six-and-a-half years in prison and a $1 million fine for his role in the criminal pump-and-dump, stock fraud.

John S Bown, of Fresno, California, provided a botnet to distribute the stock spam emails and is facing a five-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $75,000.

Other spammers in criminal enterprise, including spammers residing in China, are still awaiting trial.
