Good idea, wrong economy. Won’t sell for 3 yrs.
If you buy a 13-inch MacBook Pro for US$1200 and 24-inch external display for US$300 you have more pixels for half the price. On a Mac, you can hot plug the external display at any time, it is very easy to add or remove while you work or travel. And weighs much less than SpaceBook also.
Hamranhansenhansen: You can HOTPLUG a MONITOR on a mac?? Really??? That’s so awesome!!!1 Where do I throw my monies to get one?
Newsflash, You can buy a laptop with an HDMI port on it, and plug in nearly any type of monitor, anytime. This laptop is too much of a “Niche” item to sell terribly well. The creators mean well, but reality says it’s only gonna sell to people that want to show off, or despratley need the second screen for tasks I cant even imagine.
HP HDX18 laptop $1800, Digital video projector, $700, portable screen $ 200 small generator $ 200, Gas, $100… Horray, I’ve got a dual screen – portable blu-ray player that can shoot a 120″ screen. and for the same price… Less the convienience of a small package to carry it in..
Hamranhansenhansen: yes you can hot plug a nice monitor to a 13in macbook. i dont know why but you can. however why not go for the computer that has it built in? The other bonus to the “spacebook” is that it isn’t branded by FisherPrice…

Superhobo/Hamranhansenhansen: No need to turn this into a mac/pc debate. Mac or PC can plug in a monitor. But can they power it too?
Regardless this thing looks like its made for people to buy and show off. For 99.99% of people, it would be much easier and cheaper to just have a big old 24″ (or larger monitor) sitting at their desk and plug in there.
