‘Sidekick’ Trouble As Users Lose Personal Data, Contacts

October 12, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – T-Mobile users who own a Sidekick may have noticed something alarming over the last week: their contacts and data are gone.

According to T-Mobile, they have been having severe problems with their servers in the past week. It has caused disruption with service, leading many customers to take the batteries from their phones.

Whenever the battery is removed from a mobile phone, it erases all data. That data is restored by the cache in the servers, which keeps track of contacts, ringtones, text messages, recent calls, and other information.

But with servers malfunctioning that data was not stored, and so has been lost.

T-Mobile is attempting to fix the issue, and hopes to be able to recover that lost data, though it may be unlikely.

They ask all Sidekick users to refrain from removing the battery, or allowing it to run all the way down, as that will have a similar result.
