Google Holding Chrome OS Update Event

November 18, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Since Google fired a shot across Microsoft’s bow, with the announcement of its Chrome OS, which was first announced in July this year, there has been little word in terms of detail.  Google however will now open the curtain and demonstrate its Chrome OS “created for people who spend most of their time on the Web,” in an event this Thursday, and deliver an overview on its launch plans for 2010, Google representatives said Tuesday.  A few short presentations and demos from product management veep Sundar Pichai and Chrome OS engineering boss Matthew Papakipos are expected for the media according to a TechCrunch report.  Word is Chrome OS won’t be ready for prime-time until sometime in 2010, but some developer source code might now be ready. The timing of Googles little event, seems well timed to steal some attention away from Microsoft which is holding it’s annual developer show, and announce its online free version of Office.

If you are interested in free, alternative operating systems, don’t forget Haiku (which is looking more and more promising) and has just released version Alpha 1. Read more here:
