Klingon Translation Program To Be Released By Ultralingua
November 19, 2009
U.S. (ChattahBox) – Ultralingua has been a well known producer of linguistic software for PC’s and smart phones for the last few years. But their new project has taken that service to the next level.
The company has begun development on a full Klingon dictionary, which would teach users how to write and read the Star Trek created language, as well as to speak conversation Klingon.
The idea is being targeted at a small but loyal fan base of users who have requested the program be made.
The company decided to fulfill this dream for their users, and turned to the only man for the job: linguist and Georgetown graduate d’Armond Speers.
Speers had conducted an experiment with his infant son, speaking nothing but the Klingon language to him for the first three years of his life, in order to see if language would prevail as he grew.
The experiment was, sadly, a failure. His now teenage son speaks not a word of the Star Trek language.
But the dedication has paid off, as he has been asked to help develop the software as a consultant.
The program will feature various voice clips of Star Trek’s Klingon Lt. Commander Worf, played by Michael Dorn.
When asked if he was a Star Trek fanatic, Speers denied it.
“I don’t go to ‘Star Trek’ conventions, I don’t wear the fake forehead,” he explained.
“I’m a linguist.”

Klingon is difficult, but Esperanto is worldwide. And easy, of course
