McDonalds To Offer Free Wireless Internet In 2010

December 17, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Joining chains like Starbucks, Panera Bread, Borders and Barnes and Nobles, McDonalds will be offering free, unlimited wireless internet access to their “dining room” customers, starting in January 2010.

The mega-chain has offered wireless access run by AT&Tin their restaurants for five years now, but for the price of $2.95 every two hours.

“We’re not just about hamburgers,” chief information officer for McDonalds, Dave Grooms said. “We are about convenience and all kinds of value.”

The chain plans to switch over the 11,000 restaurants that already offer starting next month and eventually expand the service to the remaining, 3000 U.S. restaurants over time, he said.
