Courts Agree To Yahoo!, Microsoft Search Fusion

February 18, 2010

(ChattahBox) – Microsoft and Yahoo! have had a deal authorized by the European Commission that will allow them to combine their two search engines.

The move, announced originally in July 2009, was put on hold as they awaited approval from regulatory agencies.

Now that final approval has come, and Yahoo! Search and Bing will be fused.

“”I believe that together, Microsoft and Yahoo! will promote more choice, better value and greater innovation to our customers as well as to advertisers and publishers,” Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer said of the deal.

The move is thought to be a step forward in offering some competition against Google, which currently holds the majority of global search percentages.
