Winni File Sharing Porn Virus Blackmails Victims

April 16, 2010

Japan (ChattahBox) – A new virus that is the latest in “ransomware” has begun targeting viewers of hentai, a genre of pornographic Japanese cartoons and games.

The virus works by attaching itself to hentai files shared through the popular program Winni. It brings up a screen that appears to be a part of the file, such as in hentai games, and asks for information from the user.

Once they have entered something into the screen it searched the web history and takes screencaps, which are then published to a website.

The virus then asks for a payment of 1500 Yen to remove it, in order to settle their “violation of copyright law”.

A similar scam is being seen in Europe, where users are asked for $400 USD to remove their name and information from a website, and then their credit card information is sold for further purchases.
