Online Dating Competition Uses Fengshui For Millionaire Matchups
June 23, 2010
China (ChattahBox) – An online dating shop is working to find matches for 18 millionaires from woman around the world. It is all a part of a massive competition that has taken the Chinese media by storm.
The site is jiayuan.com, and they are looking for wives for eighteen eligible millionaire bachelors.
People from all over the world flew in to China last weekend, and joined the throngs waiting to get through the initial process and into the general contest.
A fengshui master, Chen Yongcheng, presiding over the first part of the application dismissed more than 2,000 women who he said would hurt their husband’s fortune, rather than help them.
Now, 130 women remain in the running, and they are waiting to take part in final cut, which will see all but 18 sent home. The final women will attend a party with their matches.
“As tycoons they want suitable wives rather than beauties”, Yongsheng said.
The contest is the latest in a string that have shocked – but also captured the interest – of the nation. It is also one that has caused an outcry from many that say it shows an obsession with sex, money, and commercializing romance.
A dating show last month led to a restriction to be placed on what could be said about relationships, after a woman commented that she would “rather be crying in the back of a BMW, than smiling on the back of a bicycle”.
