Foursquare Contemplating Possible Search Collab With Google, Yahoo, Bing
July 19, 2010
(ChattahBox) – An exclusive from the Telegraph has confirmed that Foursquare is looking to start up a business link with major search engines Google, Bing, and Yahoo!, in order to allow users to look up popular restaurants, clubs and bars in their area in real time.
It would be an exciting collaboration for the company, and could create a huge surge in use and profits, especially in the case of a connection with Internet super-giant Google.
In the Telegraph interview, co-founder Dennis Crowley divulged a few juicy details.
“Our data generates hugely interesting trends which would enrich search. We can anonymise data and use it to show venues which are trending at that moment. Twitter helped the world and the search engines know what people are talking about. Foursquare would allow people to search for the types of place people are going to – and where is trending – not what.”
Foursquare is valued at $90 million, but that number is sure to jump if this deal goes through. However, none of the search engines are confirming or denying the talks.
