Feds Shut Down 73,000 Blogs For Extremist Posts, Bomb Instructions

July 20, 2010

(ChattahBox) – According to RAW, Pennsylvania-based Internet company BurstNET has deleted a platform popular with bloggers, after it was found that it was being used by suspected terrorists, linking to instructions on creating a bomb, and a hitlist drafted by al-Qaeda.

The platform being used was Blogetary.com, and an FBI investigation found that links to instructions on making a bomb to be used in violent jihad was shared among tens of thousands of users.

A full 73,000 blogs were terminated, though it wasn’t immediately clear how many of those were part of the offending ring of al-Qaeda supporters.

“It was revealed that a link to terrorist material, including bomb-making instructions and an al-Qaeda ‘hit list,’ had been posted to the site. Upon review, BurstNET determined that the posted material, in addition to potentially inciting dangerous activities, specifically violated,” the website said in an official statement.
