3-D Picture TV Set For Release By Toshiba

August 24, 2010

Japan (ChattahBox) – An exciting announcement from Toshiba: they are set to release their first 3-D television set that doesn’t require special glasses by the end of the year.

TV’s that can host 3-D images are far from new, but the glasses – or, for the those that remember the older incarnation, the scraps of thin cardboard with colored plastic sheets – were required to get the affect. In many cases, these cause eye irritation and strain, and could lead to a serious migraine.

But now they are saying the latest version, which will not require glasses, will be released by the end of the year.

This is really great news, and while it will cost several thousand dollars, I think we can safely hope that the trend continues on.
