New Wireless XBox 360 Controller With D-Pad Announced
August 31, 2010
(ChattahBox) – It was only this morning when details of a new wireless controller for the XBox 360 began to circulate as a rumor. But already Major Nelson has released a video on the official XBox YouTube channel showing it off.
The changes have been mostly small: the shape is more concave, allowing for a better grip without tilting the wrists too much, and the whole thing is gray, even the buttons (I have no idea why they did this, but OK), so nothing earth shattering there.
But the new D-pad is an exciting addition. It comes with the usual disk, but it can be turned to raise the crossbars by a quarter of an inch. This should make is at least a little easier to use, and covers a much-whined-about feature of the last controller design.
It will be released on November 9th in the States, and it will hit Europe sometimes around February, Nelson claims. It wioll only come in a Play and Charge kit for $64.99, which is kind of a crazy price for such minor changes. With the raising of their XBox Live subscription price by $10, it is already causing some complaints.
