Apple Live Event: Big Announcements Made!
September 1, 2010
California (ChattahB0x) – I have been waiting with bated breath for the announcements from Apple at their live event held today, and I was sad that I couldn’t be in San Francisco to hear it for myself. But I did get to watch the live stream, and Steve Jobs did not disappoint.
What drives me crazy about Apple is that they make me want their products a little more with each passing generation of their devices. I hate the company, I hate Jobs but my God, I want to buy the stuff they make. This impulse has now increased ten-fold, and I now hate them a little more for being so utterly awesome.
First was the iPod. The Touch has three new models that support FaceTime with front and back facing cameras, that come in the usual 8GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. They are basically faster with newer software being released next week. The iPod Nano also has two new models in seven colors, which is lighter, smaller, and with a touch screen instead of a wheel.
iTunes is getting a remodel to include new software that will apparently be even more user friendly. They are also creating a social media site that connects to iTunes to give easier access to artists, especially the new ones. This should be interesting to see, especially since Myspace announced earlier this week that they are syncing with Facebook, lending a social media nod, yet again, to the site. We will have to see for Apple manages to keep up.
Apple TV will now be cheaper by $100, costing just $99 and is on preorder now. Their shows will move to $.99 rentals, with $4.99 rents for first wave HD movie downloads. They will also be expanding on what they offer, which was pretty much expected.
There are new software updates galore, with the iOS for the iPhone and iPod coming out next week. Their 4.2 for the iPad will be available next week.
But the iPad itself is going to be great; full streaming (an addition to the Netflix app, which is now also offered for iPod Touch), wireless printing and a faster interface…awesome.
These are only a few of the announcements. See more here.
