Facebook Offering New Security Feature That Allows Remote Sign Out
September 3, 2010
(ChattahBox Technology News) – Facebook has made another step in protecting the security of users by offering a remote sign out option. Sadly, this still doesn;’t protect from the privacy violations committed by the site.
According to their official page, Facebook is slowly rolling out an option in the account settings that will show all computers and locations that are signed into your account. Using this central control system, you will be able to sign out of any device you may have forgotten to log out of.
This adds to the option already available as of April, which allows users to select which devices can sign into their account, and alerts users if an unauthorized source tries to sign in.
But this doesn’t stop the third-party sharing of information, or the use of peoples pictures and data for advertising. It also doesn’t stop the obvious collection of marketing data that is gained through the millions of ‘like’ buttons all over the web.
Whatever safety they can offer, social networking sites are still serious violations of privacy, unless you really watch what you put on.
