NCL Dawn Passenger Goes Overboard In Rough Weather
May 13, 2008
New York (ChattahBox) - On Sunday night, a woman passenger on the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship fell overboard around 50 miles off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Coast Guard were unable to find the woman.
The 46-year old woman was on the cruise ship for only about 4 hours, leaving from New York City and heading to Bermuda, when the tragic event took place.
Cruise officials stated on Sunday that she fell overboard around 7:50 p.m.
Norwegian Cruise Line immediately jumped into a search and rescue operation, but no other details were given.
The Coast Guard took control of the search for most of the night, but with winds around 50mph it was very difficult, and they called off the search.
Neither Norwegian, or the Coast Guard released the passenger’s name or residence.
The Coast Guard has since allowed the NCL Dawn to continue its trip to Bermuda.
