The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s director, Julie Gerberding, met with Howard to inform him of the decision yesterday.

Howard has served his six-year term as the director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and will be done as of July 14th.

Howard has been instrumental in helping people get the help they need following the WTC attacks.

The worry is that the departure of Howard could jeopardize future funding ot victims of 9/11.
