Hurricane Dolly has managed to gain strength and is now a Category 2 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center...Houston (ChattahBox) - Hurricane Dolly has managed to gain strength and is now a Category 2 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The most recent reports have Hurricane Dolly just 30 miles east/northeast of Brownsville, Texas.

Maximum sustained winds for Hurricane Dolly are now near 100 mph and it is likely that it will gain in strength even more as it gets ready to make landfall.

Hurricane Dolly continues to move at a pace of 7 mph, going in a northwest direction.

Later today, it is expected to continue this pattern, but slow in speed just a bit. The eye of Hurricane Dolly is now expected to cross the coast near the Texas and Mexico border in mere hours.

Hurricane warnings are in effect for the coast of Texas, as well as the northeastern coast of Mexico.
