The Department of Justice is currently working on prosecuting their largest hacking and identity theft case in history..Boston (ChattahBox) – The Department of Justice is currently working on prosecuting their largest hacking and identity theft case in history.

11 people have been charged with conspiracy, fraud, idenity theft, and computer intrusion.

They managed to hack into the wireless computer networks of major retailers including Sports Authority, Forever 21, DSW, OfficeMax, Boston Market, Barnes & Noble, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and TJX Cos.

Once they hacked into the networks, they installed software which would allow them to steal credit card numbers, passwords, and other information.

This resulted in them being able to steal 41 million credit and debit card numbers, according to the Department of Justice.

The men charged are from the U.S., China, Belarus, Estonia, and Ukraine
.
Attorney General Michael Mukasey stated there is currently no way to compute the losses.

They used two servers to store the credit cards, with one server located in Ukraine, with the other in Latvia. Together there were over 41 million credit card numbers on the servers.
