U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeffrey Taylor, stated the investigation is now closed.

The 2001 anthrax attacks were carried out in the mail shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and targeted politicians, as well as media outlets.

In total, five people were killed, with seventeen injured from the anthrax.

The 62-year old Ivins committed suicide on July 29 before he was to be charged in the attacks.
