Colon cancer took the life of award-winning journalist Leroy Sievers over the weekend.  He was just 53-yeard old....Boston (ChattahBox) - Colon cancer took the life of award-winning journalist Leroy Sievers over the weekend. He was just 53-years old.

The award-winning journalist died in his home in Maryland over the weekend, after losing a fight with colon cancer.

He was originally diagnosed with the disease back in 2006, with things getting worse this past s ummer.

The colon cancer had spread to his lungs, liver, and brain.

He worked with Ted Koppel as the executive producer of the ABC News show Nightline.

He was also well-known for his National Public Radio commentary.

He worked with CBS as well, and joined up with Koppel for the 2007 documentary, Our Children’s Children’s War, and was recently features in a special, Living with Cancer.
