August 30, 2008

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered an evacuation of the city on Saturday to get ready for what he called New Orleans (ChattahBox) – New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered an evacuation of the city on Saturday to get ready for what he called “the mother of all storms,” Hurricane Gustav.

The evacuation order is not going to be physically enforced, but will kick off starting at 8 A.M. CDT on Sunday morning.

The evacuation is going to continue in the West Bank of New Orleans, and then expand from there.

This is the first time the city has been under an evacuation order since Hurricane Katrina hit three years ago, as well as Hurricane Rita that followed.

He stated in his announcement that “you need to get your butts moving and out of New Orleans right now.”

Staying behind appears to be a very dangerous decision at this point.
