Gustav Changes Plans Set For McCain, Republicans
September 1, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - Hurricane Gustav, set to slam into New Orleans and surrounding areas today, has caused the plans of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, and the entire Republican National Convention, to change.
The Republican National Convention was set to open up in St. Paul, Minnesota on Monday, but the events which were planned are not taking place.
Instead, the event is being turned into a fundraiser of sorts for the first day at least, as many push to get others to donate money to the American Red Cross.
Sen. John McCain announced yesterday that the events which were set to take place during the first day of the Republican National Convention will not be held.
This comes after President George W. Bush and others stated they would not be able to make it to Minnesota.
What the future holds though is still in question, as the chance is there that McCain may not even be able to make his acceptance speech of the Republican nomination.
