If You Text And Drive In California, You Will Be Fined

Washington (ChattahBox) – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has managed to sign a new bill into law in the state of California. This bans the reading or typing of text messages while driving.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed this new bill into law which will go into effect at the start of 2009.
The idea behind the new law is to ban the reading or typing of text messages while driving.
The hope is that this will keep drivers more focused on the road.
A first offense is said to carry a $20 fine, whlie repeat offenders will have to pay $50 each time.
Currently, the law in California forces those who want to use a cell phone in the car to talk on a use hands-free device.
Those under 18 are not allowed any devices while driving.
