Gay and lesbian couples can now exchange vows in the state of Connecticut.

This is the second state in the U.S. to allow same-sex marriages.

Many couples came out on Wednesday to take part in this history-making day.

It is believed that in the coming weeks and months, thousands of gay couples are going to receive marriage licenses.

There are now six states in New England that legally recognize same-sex couples.
