Governor Arrested For Trying To Sell Senate Seat

December 9, 2008

Illinois (ChattahBox) – In a shocking story of greed and corruption in the Senate, Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich has been arrested and charged with trying to “sell” Barack Obama’s now vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.

According to secretly recorded conversations involving Blagojevich, the Senate opening was “a *bleeping* valuable thing. You just don’t give it away….I’ve got this thing and it’s *bleeping* golden.”

Blagojevich, as well as his chief of staff, John Harris, are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon for arraignment in a case that FBI Agent in charge of the investigation claimed had “even the most cynical agents in our office shocked”.

But selling a place in one of the highest branches of government isn’t all that Blagojevich and Harris are being investigated for. The criminal complaint alleges that the two conspired to pressure the Chicago Tribune to fire writers who had been critical of his the actions of their office, But Gerould Kern, the Tribune’s editor, states that that isn’t true, and that no threats were ever received.

“I never got a complaint. I never got any contact whatsoever from Blagojevich, no complaint–nothing from inside Tribune company. The facts are what they are. “
