I agree with Barney Frank. “There is a right to privacy. There’s no right to hypocricy.” So why go after Ed Koch? He has a long record of championing equal rights and protections for gays and lesbians. Also, it will come as a surprise to most old-time New-Yorkers that Koch is closeted. Everyone knows that Koch is gay. He hasn’t denied it since 1977 – and when he did he also blasted the Cuomo campaign for inciting homophobia via the infamous “Vote for Cuomo, Not the Homo” flyer that was plastered all over NYC at the time. Since then, he has simply refused to confirm or deny – although he’s acknowledged that most New Yorkers thought he was gay but didn’t care. That’s not being closeted in my book, it’s being principled about privacy. Maybe Koch could have done more to staunch the AIDS epidemic – and it’s certainly fair game to criticize the impact of his policies as mayor. That said, he’s never actively done anything to restrict the rights of his fellow citizens based on their sexual orientation. In fact, he did quite a bit to promote the equality of gays and lesbians. Koch is by no means perfect, but he’s not a hypocrit and should not have been included in this film with the likes of Larry Craig, Charlie Crist, and the rest of them that have supported gay-marriage bans, voted to exclude sexual orientation from anti-discrimination laws, and have acted in complicity with an antihumanist, homophobic constituency. Leave the octogenarian old queen alone!

Shepard is still in the closet, but conventional wisdom is he is gay, and in 2005 he was outed in a column in the Washington Blade. Haven’t heard about the Eric Lilligren relationship though.

I have herd rumers for years that Shepard Smith and Eric Liligren who use to be a Fox reporter are a couple. Liligren suposedly left the network to protect the privcy of their relationship. Does anyone no if this is true? Who else has been his bf?
